I have worked as a painter & decorator since 1982 covering all areas of the trade. Early in my career I was fortunate enough to be taught graining & marbling techniques by the late Bill Holgate. I also demonstrated graining and marbling techniques at painting and decorating trade shows for J.H.Ratcliffe and Co. who were the main manufacturers of scumbles, glazes and graining tools.
Over the years I have developed my skills as a painter & decorator and now specialise in graining & marbling, trompe l’oeil, broken colour, paint effects, murals & all decorative faux finishes. My main work areas include: domestic and private homes, restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, churches and shopping centres.

I work as a specialist painter and decorator throughout the northwest, across the UK and abroad.
In 1996/97 I worked alongside Bill Holgate in the Middle East on a large marbling project for Alarabi Decoration in Saudi Arabia.
I have also carried out work at St Georges Hall in Liverpool restoring the graining on softwood doors to match oak doors and lapis lazuli marbling on panels in the courtroom.
I done restoration work, graining, marbling and decorative work in several local churches. In 2018 I refurbished and grained the doors of St. Lawrences Parish Church in Chorley.
From preparing surfaces, applying paints and producing high quality finishes, to wall papering and specialist finishes. I always aim to achieve the highest possible standard of painting and decorating for all my customers. I am a fully qualified painter and decorator and member of the Painting and Decorating Association.
I am a qualified college lecturer and NVQ assessor. Training in decorative paint effects, graining and marbling and faux finishes, either one to one or small groups can be arranged by appointment.
Graining and marbling is the art of creating realistic imitations of wood grains and marbles using scumbles, glazes, paints and specialist tools. The range of my work includes:
